Should you need training in Cisco, then a CCNA is most probably what you're looking for. The Cisco training is intended for individuals who wish to get to grips with routers and switches. Routers are what connect computer networks to different computer networks via dedicated lines or the internet.

You may end up employed by an internet service provider or a big organisation that's spread out geographically but still wants secure internal data communication. These jobs are well paid and in demand.

We'd recommend a tailored course that will add in the necessary skills in advance of getting going on the Cisco CCNA.

At the top of your shopping list for a training program should be comprehensive 24x7 direct-access support via professional mentors and instructors. Far too often we see trainers who only seem to want to help while they're in the office (9am till 6pm, Monday till Friday usually) and nothing at the weekends. Be wary of any training providers that use 'out-of-hours' call-centres - with your call-back scheduled for standard office hours. It's not a lot of help when you've got study issues and could do with an answer during your scheduled study period.

Be on the lookout for training programs that have multiple support offices around the globe in several time-zones. All of them should be combined to provide a single interface as well as access round-the-clock, when you need it, with no hassle. Find a training company that goes the extra mile. Because only 24x7 round-the-clock live support provides the necessary backup.

Traditional teaching in classrooms, using textbooks and whiteboards, is usually pretty hard going. If you're nodding as you read this, check out study materials that are multimedia based. Recent studies into the way we learn shows that memory is aided when we involve as many senses as possible, and we get physically involved with the study process.

Fully interactive motion videos featuring instructor demo's and practice lab's beat books hands-down. And they're far more fun. You really need to look at the type of training provided by your chosen company. They have to utilise video, demonstrations and various interactive elements.

Purely on-line training should be avoided. Always choose CD or DVD based study materials where available, so you can use them wherever and whenever you want - it's not wise to be held hostage to your broadband being 'up' 100 percent of the time.

There are colossal changes washing over technology as we approach the second decade of the 21st century - and it becomes more and more thrilling each day. Technology, computers and interaction through the internet will dramatically change our lifestyles over future years; remarkably so.

Always remember that income in the IT sector throughout this country is noticeably greater than the national average salary, which means you'll most likely receive noticeably more in the IT sector, than you could reasonably hope to achieve elsewhere. There is a significant UK-wide demand for trained and qualified IT technicians. In addition, with the marketplace continuing to expand, it appears there will be for years to come.

Don't accept anything less than the most up to date Microsoft (or relevant organisation's) authorised simulation materials and exam preparation packages. Sometimes people can find themselves confused by trying to prepare themselves with questions that aren't recognised by official sources. Sometimes, the way questions are phrased can be completely unlike un-authorised versions and it's important to prepare yourself for this. Why don't you analyse your depth of understanding through quizzes and mock ups of exams to get you ready for the real thing.
