Because you're looking at information about MCSE training programs, it's possible you're in one of two categories: Maybe you're thinking of completely changing your working life to get into the IT field, and you've discovered a great need for certified networking professionals. In contrast you're already a professional - and you need to formalise your skill-set with the MCSE accreditation.
One area often overlooked by those considering a training program is the concept of 'training segmentation'. This is essentially the method used to break up the program for drop-shipping to you, which can make a dramatic difference to what you end up with. Trainees may consider it sensible (when study may take one to three years to pass all the required exams,) for a training company to release a single section at a time, as you pass each element. But: Many students find that their training company's 'standard' path of training isn't ideal for them. You may find that a slightly different order suits them better. Could it cause problems if you don't get everything done in the allotted time?
The ideal solution is to have all your study materials couriered to you immediately; the entire thing! Thus avoiding any future problems that could impede your capability of finishing.
A sneaky way that course providers make a lot more is via an 'exam inclusive' package and offering an exam guarantee. It looks like a good deal, but is it really:
Patently it's not free - you are paying for it - the cost has just been rolled into the whole training package. Students who go in for their examinations when it's appropriate, funding them one at a time are in a much stronger position to qualify at the first attempt. They're mindful of their spending and prepare more appropriately to ensure they are ready.
Isn't it outrageous to have to pay the training course provider in advance for examination fees? Hold on to your money and pay for the exam when you're ready, don't pay mark-ups - and take it closer to home - not at somewhere of their bidding. Why tie up your cash (or borrow more than you need) for exams when there was no need to? A lot of profit is secured by training companies charging all their exam fees up-front - and banking on the fact that many won't be taken. You should fully understand that re-takes with training course providers who offer an 'Exam Guarantee' are monitored with tight restrictions. You'll be required to sit pre-tests till you've proven conclusively that you can pass.
Due to typical VUE and Prometric examinations in the United Kingdom costing around 112 pounds, it makes sense to pay as you go. Why splash out often many hundreds of pounds extra at the beginning of your training? Commitment, effort and practice with quality exam preparation systems are the factors that really get you through.
Those that are drawn to this type of work are often very practical, and don't always take well to classrooms, and slogging through piles of books. If this is putting you off studying, opt for more involving, interactive learning materials, where you can learn everything on-screen. If we can involve all our senses in the learning process, our results will often be quite spectacular.
Top of the range study programs now offer interactive CD and DVD ROM's. Instructor-led tutorials will mean you'll absorb the modules, one by one, by way of the demonstrations and explanations. Then it's time to test your knowledge by practicing and interacting with the software. Every company that you look at should be able to show you some simple examples of the type of training materials they provide. Make sure you encounter videos of instructor-led classes and many interactive sections.
Avoiding training that is delivered purely online is generally a good idea. Always choose CD or DVD based study materials where obtainable, so that you have access at all times - and not be totally reliant on your internet connection always being 'up' and available.
One thing you must always insist on is full 24x7 support from expert mentors and instructors. So many companies we come across only provide office hours (or extended office hours) support. Avoid those companies which use 'out-of-hours' call-centres - where you'll get called back during the next 'working' day. This is useless when you're stuck and need help now.
The best trainers have many support offices around the globe in several time-zones. They use an online interactive interface to link them all seamlessly, at any time you choose, there is always help at hand, without any contact issues or hassle. Seek out a company that goes the extra mile. Because only live 24x7 support truly delivers for technical programs.(C) Jason Kendall.
